Global Search
Global Search is a powerful retrieval tool specifically developed for TNAS. By building a folder index database, it supports rapid searching of TOS features, applications, folders, and various file types (such as Office documents, images, audio, etc.), significantly improving search efficiency and user experience.
Search
Management and Operations
- Search: Enable the Global Search function. Enter keywords in the top search bar to quickly find files and folders within indexed directories.
- Filter: Narrow down search results based on criteria like file type, modification time, and size.
- View: Switch the display mode of search results, supporting both list and preview views.
- Settings: Access the Index Management page to add or remove indexed directories and configure the retention rules for search history.
When search results exceed 1,000 items, the system will display the top 1,000 most relevant matches by default, and other matching items will not be shown. For more precise results, it is recommended to refine your keywords or use filters to narrow the scope.
File Indexing
To enable fast and accurate searching of folder contents, the system needs to pre-build file indexes. Content within folders that are not indexed cannot be searched.
Management and Operations
- Add: Select and add directories to the index list, creating corresponding index databases.
- Remove: Remove selected directories from the index list and clear all their associated index data.
- Rebuild Index: Regenerate or repair the index database for a specified directory.
How to Add an Index Folder
- Click the "Settings" button in the top-right corner.
- Navigate to the "Indexed Directories" page and click the "Add" button.
- Select the directory you wish to index, confirm, and apply the settings.
- The system automatically indexes the logged-in user's home folder by default; no manual addition is required.
- A maximum of 500 indexed directories are supported.
- Indexing operations may consume system resources. It is recommended to perform large-scale indexing tasks during off-peak hours.
- If a search is performed while a directory is being indexed, the results may be incomplete or delayed. For accurate queries, it is advised to wait until indexing is complete.
Search History
When this feature is enabled, the system automatically saves your search keyword history, allowing for quick reuse of previous search terms. The system can retain up to 300 search records. Once this limit is exceeded, the oldest entries will be automatically overwritten by new ones.
When this feature is disabled, all saved search history will be immediately and permanently cleared. Please back up any necessary data before disabling the feature if you wish to retain it.
