Hot Spare

A hot spare disk is a backup hard disk. When a hard disk in the storage pool fails, it can quickly and automatically take over to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the storage pool. To ensure performance and compatibility, it is recommended to choose a hot spare disk with the same model as the existing hard disks in the storage pool. The capacity of the hot spare disk should be at least equal to the smallest member disk in the storage pool; however, if your storage pool uses the TRAID or TRAID+ array type, the capacity of the hot spare disk should be at least equal to the largest member disk in the storage pool.

Management and Operations

Through the function configuration buttons, you can perform the following operations:

• Create: Create a hot spare disk.
• Edit: Assign the hot spare disk to an available storage pool.
• Delete: Delete the created hot spare disk.

Note

1. During the process of creating a hot spare disk, the data in the selected disk will be deleted.
2. The capacity of the hot spare disk should be at least equal to the smallest member disk in the storage pool; however, if your storage pool uses the TRAID or TRAID+ array type, the capacity of the hot spare disk should be at least equal to the largest member disk in the storage pool.
