Virtual Disk

You can mount the iSCSI Target from a NAS device or server onto TNAS as a Virtual Disk, thereby expanding TNAS's storage capacity.

Management

Through the buttons in the management tab, you can perform the following operations:

  • Mount: Mount a virtual disk;
  • Disconnect: Disconnect the virtual disk connection;
  • Connection: Re-establish the virtual disk connection;
  • Edit: Modify the settings of the virtual disk;
  • Uninstall: Cancel the system's mounting of the virtual disk;
  • Disable: Disable the virtual disk functionality;
  • Enable: Only after enabling this feature, you can create a virtual disk connection;

How to mount a virtual disk to TNAS?

  1. Create the iSCSI Target and iSCSI LUN on the TNAS device or server. How to use the iSCSI Manager application to create iSCSI Target and iSCSI LUN on TNAS?
  2. Navigate to "Control Panel" > "Storage Management" > "Virtual Disk" and click "Create".
  3. Enter the following information:  • iSCSI Target server IP address, fill in the communication port (default 3260).
     • Click "Get iSCSI LUN".
     • If authentication is required: Enter the username and password.
     • Optional: Enable "Data Digest" or "Header Digest" verification.
     • Click "Confirm".
  4. After successfully mounting the virtual disk:
     • The iSCSI LUN with an existing file system in the virtual disk will be automatically mounted.
     • When an iSCSI LUN without a file system is detected, it needs to be formatted. Only after successful formatting can it be mounted.
Note

An iSCSI Target can only be connected to one host at a time.
