TNAS PC

TerraMaster's TNAS PC is a meticulously designed desktop assistant, aimed at streamlining the user experience with TNAS devices. It offers swift capabilities for locating and connecting to TNAS devices, simplifying login processes, and facilitating basic configurations. Furthermore, TNAS PC provides practical features including remote access, Wake-on-LAN (WOL) for network wakeup, and computer data backup and synchronization. Available in both Windows and macOS versions, TNAS PC continues to evolve, incorporating additional useful functionalities to enhance user productivity.

Download and Install TNAS PC

To download TNAS PC, you can do so in the following two ways:

  1. Go to the TerraMaster official website “Download Center”,select your TNAS model, and download the appropriate version of TNAS PC.
  2. Go to the TOS desktop, search for "TNAS PC" in the App Center, and download it.

TNAS Devices

After launching the application, TNAS PC will quickly search and display all TNAS devices within the same network for you. Once you have logged into a device, the application will automatically add your device to the access history, making it more convenient for you to access it next time.

Management

Through the buttons in the management tab, you can perform the following operations:

  • Refresh: Search for local devices in the LAN; update the status of devices in the access history.
  • Add Device: Add a device by IP, TNAS ID, or domain name.
  • Modify IP Address: Change the IP address of the TNAS.
  • Login: Log in to the device.
  • Wake on LAN: Remotely open the TNAS device within the LAN environment.
  • Delete: Remove a device from the access history.

The table below lists the status of TNAS displayed in TNAS PC and their corresponding indications. Please refer to this list when performing various operations.

StatusMeaning of Status Indicators
......The application is currently checking the connection status.
ReadyThe device is installed and ready for use.
Not configuredDouble-click on the device or click "Login" to access the device. The initial TOS configuration (admin password) after installation has not been completed. Please double-click on the TNAS to continue the setup process.
UninitalizedWhen the device status shows "Not Initialized," it could be due to the following reasons: no hard drive detected, TOS not installed, TOS system not detected on the hard drive, or factory reset performed from the control panel. Ensure that the hard drive is in good condition, properly inserted, and detected by the TNAS. Double-click on the server to start installing TOS. If TOS is already installed on the hard drive and has been used for some time, this message indicates that the server cannot recognize the TOS data on the hard drive.
OnlineThe device is powered on and accessible.
Unable to access remotelyRemote access function for the device is not enabled.
OfflineThe current device is offline, which could be due to the following reasons:
  1. The TNAS device is not powered on.
  2. The TNAS device has network connectivity issues.
  3. The TNAS device and the computer are not in the same network segment.
  4. Remote access service is not enabled or has an issue.
  5. The access history is not updated. Please try refreshing the page. |
Note
  1. Example input for adding devices:
    • IP address, e.g. 192.168.0.8 or 192.168.0.8:5443
    • TNAS ID, e.g. TonyTNAS
    • URL domain name, e.g. TonyTNASmynas.com or tonyTNASmynas.com:5443
  2. To enable the Wake on LAN function, go to TOS Control Panel > Hardware and Power > Power and check the box for "Wake on LAN (WOL)."
  3. If your network is set to DHCP mode, modifying the IP address will only change it temporarily. After restarting, the router will reassign the IP. To set a fixed IP, configure it manually in Control Panel > Network.

Does the new version of TNAS PC support remote access to devices?

The new version of the TNAS PC application supports adding and remotely accessing your NAS by entering the TNAS ID or domain name through the device adding feature. Before remotely accessing the device, please enable TNAS Online or set up DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) services.

Setting up TNAS.online

  1. Go to TOS Desktop > Remote Access > TNAS.online
  2. Check the box for "Enable TNAS.online remote access"
  3. Enter your "TNAS ID" (unique per device). If already in use, choose another.
  4. Click Apply

Setting up DDNS

  1. Go to TOS Desktop > Remote Access > DDNS
  2. Click Create
  3. Select "Use an existing service provider"
  4. Fill in the registration info from the DDNS provider
  5. Click Apply
  6. When the setup menu shows "connected," the DDNS configuration is successful.

How to Wake Up Devices

When logging into the device, TNAS PC will check if Wake on LAN (WOL) is enabled. After shutdown, you can wake up the device remotely within the LAN from the access history by clicking WOL.

StatusMeaning of Status Indicators
WOL (gray)Device does not have WOL enabled.
WOL (blue)Device is offline, can remotely wake up within the LAN.
WOL (black)Device has WOL enabled but is currently running.
Waking up…Attempting to wake up the device.
Note
  1. Before using "Wake on LAN" in TNAS PC, ensure you have enabled WOL in TOS Control Panel > Hardware & Power > Power, and logged into the device.
  2. WOL works with access history: after login, you can wake up with one click.
  3. After starting WOL, the device should wake within 5 minutes. If not:
    • Ensure the TNAS is powered normally.
    • Ensure TNAS and computer are in the same subnet.
    • Check the router/network device configuration.
    • Verify WOL is enabled.
    • Refresh the device list and try again.

Why can I find my device but can't log in?

If you locate your device but still see "username or password incorrect":

  • Check if NAS IP and computer IP are in the same subnet. If not, use Modify IP to adjust.
  • Verify the username and password.
  • Try again later if the system is congested.
Note

Even if in the same LAN, if IPs are in different subnets (e.g. computer 192.168.8.6 vs NAS 168.254.254.68), they cannot communicate directly, causing login failures.

How to Quickly Map Network Drives

To access NAS resources via Windows Explorer:

  1. Log in to the device and click Network Disk
  2. Enter TNAS username/password, check "Remember my credentials," click OK
  3. Windows Explorer will show TNAS directories. Right-click a directory and select "Map Network Drive."
Note
  1. "Network Disk" works only in LAN login. Remote devices cannot map drives.
  2. Ensure SMB File Service is enabled in TNAS Control Panel > Network Services > File Service.
  3. For issues, see Unable to use normal SMB file sharing (map network drive) on Windows?
