Virtual Disk

You can mount the iSCSI Target from a NAS device or server to TNAS as a Virtual Disk to expand TNAS storage capacity.


Management and Operations

Using the feature buttons, you can perform the following operations:

  • Mount: Mount a virtual disk.
  • Disconnect: Disconnect the virtual disk.
  • Online: Re-establish the virtual disk connection.
  • Edit: Modify the virtual disk settings.
  • Delete: Unmount the virtual disk from the system.
  • Disable: Disable the virtual disk function.
  • Enable: Enable this function to allow creating virtual disk connections.
  • Format: Format the iSCSI LUN into EXT4 or NTFS file systems.
  • Mount: Mount an existing iSCSI LUN with a file system to TNAS.
  • Unmount: Unmount an already mounted virtual disk.

  • How to Mount a Virtual Disk to TNAS?

    1. First, create the iSCSI Target and iSCSI LUN on the TNAS device or server.

    2. Go to Storage Management > Virtual Disk and click "Mount".
    3. Enter the following information:
     • IP address of the iSCSI Target server and communication port (default 3260).
     • Click "Get iSCSI LUN".
     • If authentication is required: enter username and password.
     • Optional: enable "Data Digest" or "Header Digest" verification.
     • Click "Confirm".
    4. After successfully mounting the virtual disk:
     • iSCSI LUNs with existing file systems will be automatically mounted.
     • iSCSI LUNs without a file system must be formatted first; only after successful formatting can they be mounted.


    Note

    An iSCSI Target can only be connected to one host at a time.
