Multimedia Server
DLNA Multimedia Server is an application software based on the DLNA protocol, used to provide multimedia sharing services between TNAS and other smart network devices. By enabling the Multimedia server, you can stream multimedia content from your TNAS to DLNA/UPnP multimedia devices for playback, such as smart TVs, game consoles, network players, or audio systems.
General
Enable Multimedia Server: After enabling this service, your TNAS will be discovered as a Multimedia server on the local network by DLNA devices and accessible.
Network Interface: Displays the network interface currently used for the media service. It is recommended to select a connected and stable network interface.
Port: The default communication port used by the Multimedia server. If there is a port conflict or special network requirements, you can modify it here.
SSDP Broadcast Interval: The interval at which the server broadcasts its presence to the network. If devices have difficulty discovering the TNAS, try decreasing this value (e.g., set to 300 seconds).
Multimedia Indexing Directory: Jumps to the media indexing interface.
Diagnostics: Check "Enable logging for diagnostics" to record server operation logs, used for troubleshooting connection or playback issues.
How to Play on Different Devices?
Preparation
- Set up Multimedia Indexing
Go to Control Panel > Multimedia Indexing, click "Add", select the folders and media file types you want to index, and enable Multimedia Indexing. - Install and Enable the Multimedia Server
- Install: Open the Application Center, search for "Multimedia Server", and click Install.
- Enable: After installation, open the application, go to the General tab, check "Enable Multimedia Server", then click Apply to start the service.
Playing on a Computer
Ensure the computer and TNAS are connected to the same router, then choose any of the following methods to play:
- Use Windows Built-in Players
Open Windows Multimedia Player or the "Movies & TV" app. In the left menu, click "Other Libraries" or look for "DLNA" devices, find your TNAS device, and you can browse and play the media files within. - Use Third-Party DLNA Software
Install and open DLNA-supported playback software, such as Delight Multimedia Player or DLNA Browser.
The software will automatically scan for DLNA servers on the local network; once it finds your TNAS, you can play.
Playing on a Smart TV
- Connect the Device
Ensure the TV and TNAS are on the same local network. Open the media player application on your TV (such as Sony, Samsung, etc.). - Browse TNAS Files
In the DLNA or UPnP device list, find the TNAS and browse the media files within to play.
