File Manager

File Manager is a web-based application for managing files. When using File Manager, you access TNAS folders through a web browser.

Note

To ensure optimal compatibility for file management, it is recommended that you use Google Chrome 97.0.xxxx, Mozilla Firefox 9.3, Apple Safari 12.1, Microsoft Edge 99.0.xx or later version browsers.

Search for Files or Folders

Enter keywords in the search bar to perform a deep search from the current folder down through all subfolders and files within the current directory, displaying the search results.

The advanced search function allows you to obtain precise search results by entering specific search criteria. Click the “magnifying glass” icon next to the search bar in the upper right corner to access the search settings.

  • Keyword: Enter keywords to search for files or folders with matching names.
  • Location: Click “Browse” to customize the location range of the files or folders to be searched.
  • File Type: Select the file type from the drop-down menu, such as folder, text, document, etc.
  • Time Type: Search based on the modification time of files or folders.
  • **Time:**Select the time from the drop-down menu, such as today, yesterday, this week, etc.
  • Size (B): Choose greater than or less than, and enter a size to search for files/folders matching the specified size.
  • Extension: Enter a file extension to limit the search range to specific types of files.

General Operations

After navigating to your target directory, you can create files or folders by clicking the New button, and clicking the right mouse button will provide additional operation options for you to choose from.

  • Creating Files and Folders: File or folder names cannot start with a space and cannot contain the following special characters: / # $ ^ * < > . .. ‘ “ . The maximum length is 225 characters, and the total length of the file path or folder path cannot exceed 4096 bytes.
  • Rename: Only users with read and write permissions can rename files or folders.
  • Copy or Move: Select the file or folder you wish to move or copy, and directly click on the corresponding “Copy” or “Move” option to complete the operation.
  • Compress and Extract: Currently, .zip format compressed files are supported. If you need to specify a directory for extraction, please select the “Extract to” option.
  • Upload and Download: You can add local files to the File Manager by uploading or dragging and dropping.For uploading large files or folders, it is recommended to use the SMB protocol. When downloading files or folders, the selected files will automatically download to the location specified in your browser settings. When downloading folders, the system will automatically compress the folder for easier transfer.
  • Attribute: View or change file and folder information and permissions. When changing the permissions of files or folders, if there are conflicts involving multiple users or user groups, the permission priority is: Deny > Read/Write > Read Only.
  • Delete: Select the files or folders you need to delete, and click the delete option to remove them.
  • Preview: Select the file/image you need to preview, double-click the mouse or click the preview option to preview immediately. Currently supported file preview formats include .txt, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .pdf, etc. Image preview formats include .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .heic, .ico, etc.
  • Play: Select the audio/video you need to play, double-click the mouse or click the preview option to play it immediately. The video player can play video formats supported by HTML5. To ensure browser compatibility, please check the support of different web browsers for HTML5 video formats.

Note
  1. New shared folders can only be created by users with administrator privileges.
  2. When creating a new subfile or subfolder in an encrypted shared folder, the name should be up to 143 characters long.
  3. To select multiple items, please hold the Shift or Ctrl key.
  4. If the Recycle Bin is enabled, to restore a deleted file or folder, you can click #recycle in the folder to find the desired file or folder.
  5. If a task takes too long or multiple tasks are running, clicking to close the task progress bar will allow the task to continue running in the background. If you need to view more details or the progress of the task, please go to the desktop and click the task queue icon on the right side.

Favorites

Favorites is a very practical tool that can significantly improve your efficiency in managing and quickly accessing important files, images, audio, videos, and other resources, making it convenient for you to find and use them at any time.

  • Add to Favorites: Select the file or folder and click the right mouse button to find this option.
  • Share: You can create a sharing link for your file in Favorites to easily share it with others.
  • Remove Favorite: Deletes the shortcut in Favorites.

My Shares

You can quickly share files or folders stored in TNAS. Just create a share link for the file or folder, which will generate a link and a QR code. You can send it to your friends or other users, and the recipients can click on the link to view or download the selected file or folder, regardless of whether they have a TOS account or not.

Create

  • Share: Select a file or folder, right-click to find this option.
  • Link Settings: Set the title, duration, password, access count, etc., for the share link.
  • Title: Set a title for the shared link.
  • Creation Time: Specify the creation time of the shared link.
  • Expiration Time: Specify the validity period of the shared link based on the expiration time and the creation time. Once the specified period is exceeded, the link will become invalid.
  • Password: Set a password for the shared link, which is required for access.
  • Access Count: Specify the number of times the shared link can be accessed. Once the specified count is exceeded, the link will become invalid.
Note

When sharing a remote shared link, please ensure that you have enabled remote services. To enable remote services, please go to Control Panel > Remote Access and check the box to enable TNAS.online remote access functionality.

Manage

  • Edit: Modify the title, duration, password, access count, etc., of the share link.
  • Copy Link: Share content via a link or QR code icon.
  • Cancel Share: Canceling the share will invalidate the already shared link, making it inaccessible.

Desktop

For frequently used files or folders, create desktop shortcuts to quickly access them and easily view or delete them on the desktop.

  • Create Shortcut: Select a file or folder and right-click to find this option.
  • Delete: Remove the shortcut from the desktop.

Safe Box

The Safe Box provides double password and double backup protection, offering more rigorous and solid security for your important files and data, ensuring the safety and reliability of your data storage and management.

Enable

  • Password: The password length must be at least 8 characters.
  • Reset Password: Resetting the password requires verification of the current user account's password. Once the Safe Box is reset, all stored files will be permanently deleted and unrecoverable, and the original Safe Box password will also be invalid.
Note

Please make sure to keep your Safe Box key securely! If the key is lost, your data will be unrecoverable!

Exit

  • Manual Exit: Click the "Exit Safe Box" button in the toolbar or log out of the system to exit the Safe Box. When manually exiting the Safe Box, if there are tasks in progress, you can choose to force an exit or wait for the tasks to complete before exiting the Safe Box.
  • Automatic Exit: The Safe Box will automatically exit after 15 minutes of no activity and no upload or download tasks.

Mounting

File management provides convenient mounting services for virtual disks, cloud drives, and remote folders. Click the "Mount" button, select the connection method you need, and fill in the relevant information as instructed to complete the mounting. If you have any questions, please refer to the mounted connection method, to find the corresponding instruction document for detailed support.

Note

You cannot set access permissions for files and subfolders within a mounted folder.

Views

  • Column: You can view folder or document information more clearly in the same window, reducing wasted screen space and providing a more convenient and efficient user experience.
  • Tab: You can open multiple interfaces in the same window, allowing you to open new interfaces without closing the current one, maintaining workflow continuity and facilitating multitasking.
  • List: You can arrange files in the window in a list format.
  • Icons: You can display files in the window as icons with text.

Settings

  • Recommended Apps: Whether to disable app recommendation prompts displayed when enabling file management.
  • File Management Logs: Enabling this feature requires installation of the "Log Center" app, where you can view all user activities.
  • HTML Files: Enable this to prevent others from embedding malicious scripts into your NAS through HTML files.
  • Hidden Files: Whether to display or hide system default configuration files. Deleting configuration files may affect the normal operation of some functions. Please proceed with caution.
  • Thumbnails: Enable this feature for a more intuitive and convenient browsing experience of pictures and videos.
  • File Transfer: Choose the strategy for handling conflicts during file transfer. The default option is to rename. Skip: The file you are transferring will be skipped and will not overwrite files with the same name. Overwrite: The file you are transferring will overwrite files with the same name. Rename: The file you are transferring will be renamed.
  • Recent: Set the number of access records in the Recent module.
  • Character Encoding: Set the character encoding format for non-Unicode files when downloading or compressing to .zip.
