Remote Folder
You can mount a folder located on another NAS, file server, or cloud drive to your TNAS locally through SMB, NFS, or cloud drive file services to increase the convenience of accessing data.
Mounting Remote Folders
NFS Remote Folder
- Mount Path: Please enter the correct mount path according to the example prompt. For example: 192.168.1.1:/Volume1/folder.
- Version: TOS currently supports NFSv3, NFSv4, and NFSv4.1 versions.
- Protocol: Please choose either the TCP or UDP protocol. If you want to provide a stable and reliable data transmission service, it is recommended to choose the TCP protocol.
- Destination: Please select an empty subfolder within a shared folder as the destination to mount the remote folder.
Note
- NFSv3 supports both TCP and UDP as transport layer protocols, while NFSv4 only supports TCP as the transport layer protocol.
- When mounting an NFS remote folder, please ensure that the NFS service is enabled. To enable the NFS service, go to Network Services > File Services > NFS.
- If mounting the NFS remote folder fails, please go to Server > Shared Folder > NFS to check the NFS rule settings.
- NFS remote folders do not support mounting encrypted shared folders.

Managing Remote Folders
- Automatically mount at boot: Automatically mount the specified remote folder to the file system when the system starts, allowing the system to access data on that device or partition.
- Edit: Modify the configuration content related to the remote folder.
- Enable/Disable: Disabling will not unmount your mounted remote folder. To use it again, simply enable it.
- Unmount: Select the remote folder you want to unmount and click "Unmount". The mounted remote folder will be deleted.
Note
- Remote folders cannot be edited while they are enabled.
- You cannot set access permissions for files and subfolders within a mounted folder.
